Color Me Gorgeous!

The weather has been contagious! Warm rays of sunshine... Soft night time breezes... These months are my favorite, to say the least. I thrive on beautiful weather. It's this weather that's to blame for making me a very happy wedding planner.

With beautiful weather comes a lovely ray of color. When you see me roaming the streets of
Houston, you'll see me draped in color. Beautiful greens, bright yellows, tangerines... I LOVE COLOR! Think of the beautiful array of color seen in Indian Garb. That's the color! Yep... A nice color combination can be the best antidote to a drab day.

Okay, here's a great dose of color for you to explore: India Collection by OPI. DELICIOUS!

Here are a few of my favorites:
CURRY UP DON'T BE LATE -- Perfect neutral for a bright fashion statement.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

KEYS TO MY KARMA -- Wouldn't this be perfect against yellow?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

ROYAL RAJAH RUBY -- I can't wait to see this against my oh so fabulous green dress!

I've been tagged...

Okay… I’ve been tagged by the wonderful Saundra of planning… forever events. Here are the rules as taken from Saundra’s blog (a must read):

Here are the new rules!
  1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
  2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others you like and tell why.
  3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
  4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
I have to be honest and say that I never gave this much though until now. Therefore, I had to sit and contemplate a bit.

  1. The artist formerly known as Prince, or whatever he’s called these days – Kiss -- When this song comes on, I’m immediately moving in my seat! ::blushing::
  2. No artist – Preschool greeting song (blame my babies) – Good morning, good morning, good morning how are you… I’m fine, I’m fine, and I hope that you are too…
  3. Isley Brothers – Make me say it again Girl -- I love, love this song… Don’t ask why.
  4. Mary J. -- Mirror – Something about the beat of the music that gets me going.
  5. Alicia Keys – Like you’ll never see me again – This song makes me stop and appreciate life in general. (Alicia’s video embed code was disabled. Here’s the song sung by tillykey. They did a nice job!)

Making the best of a day of coordinator!

When do you decide "Maybe we should hire a planner..."?
What should you expect once you hire a planner?

Let's take a look at the day of planner. I'm sure when hiring, you'd look for someone to ensure the smooth flow of the events you have planned. One may have a natural desire to free up friends/family and hand the details over to a professional. Here's a few things to consider when hiring a day of coordinator:
  1. Communicate your wishes openly and completely. How will your coordinator make sure you day is executed as you desire without all the underlining details? In other words, treat your planner as the person in charge. Give them all the information they request (contracts, contacts, logestic details). The more information the better. There's no reason the shield the details. Trust me, they won't tell your trade secrets.
  2. Don't give useless details and a laundry lists of instructions for family to handle. I'm sure your family and friends want to feel like a guest at your wedding also. The last thing your coordinator wants to deal with is a close friend of cousin running around with a clipboard giving orders. After all, that is what you hired a coordinator for.
  3. Tell your bridesmaids to be bridesmaids. I'm sure they think they're helping by giving orders. The best thing you could do is give them the okay to let someone else make the decisions. You allowing this sort of thing to happen only brings room for mass confussion. In the end, they are only complicating things by giving orders random orders you didnt' expect. This is another reason to leave the details to the coordinator.
  4. The most important factor to a smooth wedding ceremony is a rehearsal. The most important factor for a rehearsal's success is participation. This is of greater importance when dealing with large wedding parties. You can't expect twenty people figure out where to go and what to do right before they the ceremony! Even more so when there's a fleet of volunteer coordinators running around.
  5. By all means, and the sake of your coordinator. Let them run the show.

Okay... I'm done... (:

We are going green!

No... We aren't talking about the change in our branded image. We are talking about our inner operations!

We sat down and took a deep look at how everyone could make a little change that could make a huge difference globally. We were able to pin-point key areas of interest that would make our operations more Eco-friendly.

We are excited to announce that changes to our operations will begin immediately, but expect a full roll out of our Eco-friendly operations by June of this year. Clients will experience the same great service. However we will streamline our process and evaluate our total operations to make certain they are earth friendly. Some of our changes will include electronic communication of documents, fewer in person meetings and more web meetings, use bio-degradable products, all recycled materials (paper, ink, and office supplies).

We are specifically excited to roll out of web meeting process and electronic planning process. We will maintain the in person feel that our clients have grown to love. However, we will make web cameras available for clients that wish to maintain a face to face approach on all consultations. We feel this will be a win-win for our busy clientele. Our fully interactive system being put in place, and we can't wait to share.

So stay tuned! We're seeing green and loving it!!

Couture Wedding Gown a lá Grocery Store?!?

I average about four visits a week to my neighborhood Kroger located on the corner of El Dorado and Space Center Blvd. This just happens to be my favorite Kroger in the area. It's a little upscale than the original Kroger stores. I guess it helps to have a Starbucks Kiosk at the entrance of the store... hehe!!

A typical visit for me includes parking in front of the neighboring salon (they're not quite open yet), run to Starbucks to place my usual order, and admire the beautiful floral setup as I wait on my Grande Sugarfree Vanilla One Inch Steamed Breve Three Splenda Americano. However, today's routine was a little different. I decided to add substance to my breakfast selection by picking up eggs. I walked expeditiously through floral and glanced at the always pleasing display. I passed through appliances (great selection for a grocery store by the way) and directly across from the Meat Deli department and stopped dead in my tracks. Well... What have we here?!?

You got it! Winnie Couture displayed in the appliance section. I always travel with my trusty little digital camera. "This was something worth photographing", I said to myself!

My thoughts were: "Why would Winnie Couture display in a grocery store?" I asked my usual coffee shop barista (Belinda), but I can tell she had no idea who Winnie Couture is or knew that she had something displayed in the store. Still a little perplexed, I called the store's customer service booth to see if I could get a little additional information. They too had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, a nice gentleman in charge of store displays explained that it's simply a promotional display. Well that left me with the same unanswered question: "Why would Winnie display in a grocery store?"

I'm sure there's a logical answer to that question. One can only guess...

  • An impulse reminder for anyone who knows someone that's getting married
  • An nice reminder for some looking at appliances for their future registry
  • Oh yes! Winnie's Flagship store is a short walk to a huge and fabulous Kroger! I bet they struck a merchandising deal... humm...

Why do you think Winnie Coutoure has allowed a display to grace grocery store shelves? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think! Whould a dress displayed in a grocery store incourage purchase?

Out with the old and in with the new!

Oh my! Where did the time go?? It's so hard to believe that a new year is upon us already. With a new year brings great changes. Precious Nuptials and Events has been blessed with a wonderful 2007. As owner and chief operator, I am ecstatic to implement a new brand for 2008 and beyond!

With these changes, our partner travel company will no longer service simple travel needs. Instead we have decided to keep our focus on the destination event traveler. As most of you know, planning events is a very time consuming task. By eliminating the simple travel request, this leaves us much needed time to focus on our event clients with travel needs. Although we won't handle simple travel arrangements ourselves, www.EnjoyTravelAgency.com will be available for self booking options. The same great rates will be available, and the self booking page will be the main page beginning January 1st.

You will also notice that Precious Nuptials and Events will begin DBA Precious Nuptials and Destinations in 2008! We are SUPER excited about this change. As I LOVE wedding planning; I equally LOVE destination events. It's a marriage made in heaven!

We'll have a new look and a few changes, but our service and standards will remain untouched. We will continue to grow and provide you with the service you have come to know and love. We look forward to having a GREAT 2008!
